Workshops:
1. Ontility - Solar Electric Training (Entry level) - April 12 thru 16, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. - $1395
This course provides students with basic knowledge of solar photovoltaic (PV) cells, modules, and system components; electrical circuits; PV system design, estimation, and code requirements; solar electric products and applications; an understanding of energy conversion from sunlight to electricity, and how to work with solar conversion equipment. The course is designed for all learners.

2. Gardening & Landscaping - April 17 - 9 am - Noon $35
Call it Xeriscape, Gro Green or Sustainable, learning the fundamentals isn't as difficult as you may think. If you're a veteran at it, here's a chance for a refresher and maybe a little more. Native or naturalized, sun or shade, habitat or edible, seasonal color, growth habits, soil integrity, drainage, and synthetic chemical-free planting will be addressed. Please feel free to bring a plat, a skech or pictures of your place for the design phase of the workshop.
Wayne Kamin of Austin's Troubadour Landscape has spoken widely in Central Texas over the last 25 years about comprehensive and understandable, safe and productive human and habitate landscaping and gardening.

3. Green Jobs - April 17 - 9 am - Noon $35
Recent focus on "Green Jobs" and the "Green Economy" has many people hopeful of capitalizing on expected opportunities for employment and business development, as our nation pulls out of the recession. Learn what new jobs are coming, what training is required, and how your skills, background, and experience can be leveraged to position you and your company for success.
Cathy Redson is a Sustainability Consultant with Higher Power Living, LLC in Austin. Cathy's unique background combines over 25 years experience in education and business development with advanced training, knowledge and expertise in RE/EE technology. She teaches Solar Installer Training at Austin Community College, is certified as a RESNET HERS Rater, and provides consulting services to various companies whose products cater to homeowners and professionals in the RE/EE industry. Cathy holds a Master's in Education, a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Wharton/UPenn, and has been a leader on the state, local, and national levels to advance workforce development and policy to ensure the sustainability of a new green economy.
